Jay & Silent Bob Cruise Askew 2024 | Highlights, Pub Crawl, and Script Reading

In February 2024, Rusty and Micha set sail on Sixthman‘s inaugural Jay & Silent Bob cruise; Cruise Askew! It was a blast.

Day 1

We started the trip flying out of LAX in one of JetBlue‘s Mint seats. We highly recommend upgrading to these lay flat seats if you’re flying a red eye. Especially if you’re flying from East and heading West.

Day 1 on the ship was filled with cruise food buffet noms, Coheed cruise fam reunions, sail away on the rail, podcasts, Soul Asylum, and a mother fucking plane crash!! Yeah. Needless to say, it was an eventful day.

But the highlight of day 1 on the ship was the “pub crawl” with Dante/ Gil Hicks (Brian O’Halloran). The rabid Askew fans broke the website when tickets for the crawl went on-sale, so only Micha was able to attend. But, she’s the bigger fan, so it worked out (her son is named after Jason Lee‘s character in Mallrats). Not only did Micha get to share drinks with Brian, but the man himself, Mr. Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson), along with both Trish the Dish (Renée Humphrey) and her husband Elias (Trevor Fehrman) took part in the crawl. Talk about a mind blowing experience!! The night ended with some silent disco dancing before calling it a night.

Day 2

Day 2 was a long day at port in Nassau, Bahamas. We got off the ship for a little while, stopping in to see the Pirate Museum (spoiler: we do not recommend it). Pretty soon after leaving the museum, it started pouring down rain. So we headed back to the ship to take advantage of the spa pass we’d purchased. While still at port, Brian hosted “Truth or Date.” But they basically changed it to random Askew trivia, without notifying the contestants ahead of time. It was rough. But Brian made all of us laugh by sending vulgar phrases and curse words to the kids watching on the Disney Wish. 😂😂😂

As great as Brian offending Disney families was, the highlight of the day was wine tasting with Renée Humphrey (and Trevor). Renée left acting many moons ago and has been in the wine industry ever since! As winos, we really appreciated this event that Sixtman helped to curate.

We finished out the evening with a script reading of Mallrats II. I laughed pretty hard watching on the pool deck, and hope that this script gets to see the light of day at some point in the future.

Day 3

On their last day at sea, Micha and Rusty woke up early to hit the run track with Ethan Suplee and a ton of other early risers! Then, it was over to a very stressful autograph experience. It was also “fishnet mafia” day, so Micha donned her full body suit rainbow fishnets for the afternoon!

But the highlight of the day was Micha participating in a script reading of Kevin’s Moose Jaws! Say what!?!? Yes, that happened! They ended the night with another Soul Asylum concert; this time at the Stardust.

Want to see how roomy the JetBlue Mint seats really are? Wonder if Soul Asylum still has it? Is Kevin Smith actually funny in person? Watch our recap YouTube video below to find out. *Please note that most coverage is limited to song clips only out of respect for the bands, and Sixthman’s recording rules.
