On a whim, we decided to purchase a cabin on the Emo’s Not Dead 2022 cruise with Sixthman. Some of Micha’s favorite bands were playing, and Rusty had his heart set on seeing Dashboard Confessional. So, we took the leap and paid in full during the pre-sale.

Leading up to the cruise, we joined the official Facebook group and got to know some of the other elder emos who were “sailing.” It turned out to be a great group of people!! We met-up with some of them at Disneyland the day before we boarded.

The boarding process was surprisingly smooth and easy. We hung out on the pool deck until our room was ready, and from there went to the MySpace Mixer. When I tell you we were all elder, I mean it! And Sixthman definitely bought into that for us. It was great!

First concert of the day was Emery at the “dive bar.” Not the greatest place to see a band that puts on such an amazing live show and goes hard. But, it was still fun! It had started raining pretty hard outside, and I was feeling sea sick, so we left early and I got some meds to help with the rocking boat.

After that we went to see Cartel and the acoustic Silverstein set. Both were incredible live despite the sound systems being sub-par.

Micha had many wardrobe changes that first night. But you’ll have to watch the video to see them all haha. Rusty and Micha capped the night with a trip to the buffet before calling it a night and trying to sleep on the rough seas.
